DAYTON, Ohio, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- The condition of a 3-year-old boy who fell 25-feet from a Ferris wheel in Dayton, Ohio, reportedly is improving after two days of hospitalization.

The incident occurred Saturday night when somehow the child fell from the ride, landed on cement, and suffered a fractured skull, The Dayton Daily News reported Monday.

He was taken to the Children's Medical Center of Dayton in critical condition, but was doing much better Sunday, said Police Chief Harold Schafer.

Schafer said authorities had launched an investigation into whether the ride had malfunctioned, adding that the Ohio Department of Agriculture would take over since it has the authority to inspect amusement park rides.
