LAKE OSWEGO, Ore., Aug. 4 (UPI) -- An Oregon scientist threatened by an animal rights group has no plans to stop using monkeys in his research.
The Animal Liberation Front has acknowledged spray-painting a threat on Eliot Spindel's garage door at his home in Lake Oswego, The (Portland) Oregonian reported. A contractor found the message: "ALF eyes on you."
"Our message to Eliot is simple: Quit the torture industry and issue an apology or we swear we will make an example of you," the group wrote in a statement Thursday by the North American Animal Liberation Press Office.
Spindel is investigating ways to block the effect of maternal smoking on fetuses at Oregon National Primate Research Center in Hillsboro, a branch of the Oregon Health & Sciences University. He does not plan to apologize either.
