Montreal police ask for Youtube changes

MONTREAL, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- The Montreal Police Service has asked the video sharing Web site Youtube to remove insulting captions from videos of officers.

More than 100 video clips of Montreal police officers are posted on the Web site, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Friday, most featuring police performing routine duties like traffic stops.

But two videos by the same person have captions that clearly identify officers by name and call them "conne-stable," a play on the word conne, which means idiot in French, police department spokesman Paul Chableau said.

The Web site has yet to respond directly to the police request, but a spokesman said Youtube does not alter videos and only removes them from the site after users complain.
