MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Terror suspect Mohamad Kamal Elzahabi is on trial in federal court in Minneapolis, accused of shipping radios and other equipment to Pakistan.

Prosecutors Wednesday said Elzahabi married an exotic dancer in Houston in 1984 so he could stay in the United States.

"He wanted a green card, she wanted money -- and they struck a deal," said Assistant U.S. Attorney W. Anders Folk during opening statements.

The 44-year-old Lebanese national is charged with lying to the FBI and is suspected of terrorism ties, the St. Paul Pioneer Press said.

The government alleges Elzahabi was aiding terrorists by repacking and reshipped the packages containing radios and other communications equipment to Pakistan and other countries, the newspaper said.
