Asha, of Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, was arrested as he drove on a highway in Cheshire. He was being held at the Paddington Green police station in London, the designated lockup for suspected terrorists.

Last month, two cars filled with flammable material were left in central London but failed to explode. The next day, two men in a sport utility vehicle tried to cause an explosion at Glasgow Airport.

Dr. Bilal Talal Samad was arrested at the airport. The other man in the car, also a doctor, remains hospitalized with severe burns.

The other doctors face charges in the alleged plot, while two trainee doctors and a woman have been released.
