BAGHDAD, July 19 (UPI) -- The U.S. military on Thursday charged two of its soldiers with the killing of an Iraqi man near the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk.
A statement said the U.S. Army Criminal Investigative Division was investigating reports received from fellow soldiers about "alleged wrongdoing," CNN reported.
Military police arrested Sgt. Trey Corrales of Texas and Spc. Christopher Shore of Georgia, the report said.
Hours earlier, Marine Cpl. Trent Thomas was found guilty at Camp Pendleton, Calif., of several charges relating to the April 2006 killing of an Iraqi man in Hamdaniya. The military jury cleared Thomas of charges of premeditated murder, making a false statement and housebreaking but convicted him on kidnapping and conspiracy charges, the report said.
The 25-year-old was one of several Marines and a Navy medic charged in the case. Thomas entered a guilty plea to murder but withdrew it earlier this year, the report said.
