Three U.S. troops killed in Iraq blasts

BAGHDAD, July 18 (UPI) -- Two roadside bomb attacks killed three U.S. soldiers in Baghdad this week, the U.S. military said Wednesday.

Four other U.S. troops were injured in one of the bombings, which occurred as coalition troops fought insurgents in Baghdad, CNN reported.

The first attack took place during a routine U.S. military patrol Tuesday. One soldier died and four were injured.

Officials said other U.S. troops located two insurgents who orchestrated the attack and killed them.

The second roadside bombing killed two U.S. troops in the western portion of the capital Tuesday.

The deaths brought the number of U.S. military deaths in Iraq since 2003 to 3,620, CNN said.
