MUMBAI, July 18 (UPI) -- A judge in India has handed down death sentences to three people accused of taking part in the "Black Friday" bombings in Mumbai.
Bombing suspects Pervez Sheikh, Abdul Turq and Mohammed Mushtaq Tarani were ordered hanged to death after the court ruled they had taken part in the 1993 serial bombings in Mumbai, the BBC reported.
The attacks on the nation's financial capital killed 257 people and injured another 713.
All three men were convicted of placing explosives within various vehicles and then parking the vehicles near populated areas.
In all, 100 people have been tried and convicted in connection with the bombings. Another 13 are awaiting a trial.
The two alleged coordinators of the attacks, Dawood Ibrahim and Tiger Memon, disappeared the year the bombings occurred, the BBC said.
