Israeli ministers approve prisoner list

JERUSALEM, July 17 (UPI) -- Israeli ministers Tuesday approved the list of 256 Palestinian prisoners set to be freed Friday.

The list approved by Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and his Cabinet includes 11 young people and Fatah members "without blood on their hands, reported Ynetnews.com.

Olmert's deputies, Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz and Industry, Trade and Labor Minister Eli Yishai, opposed the release as a one-sided gesture to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Ynetnews.com reported.

"We are constantly busy making one-sided gestures," Yishai told the Cabinet. "This is wrong and unnecessary."

Barring legal objections, the prisoners are to be released Friday from various Israeli checkpoints in the Palestinian territories, Ynetnews.com said.
