Former NY official blamed in pension probe

NEW YORK, July 17 (UPI) -- The New York State Comptroller has accused his predecessor's administration of stealing hundreds of state pension fund records.

Thomas DiNapoli Tuesday said former comptroller Alan Hevesi, who resigned after it was revealed state workers performed work for his wife, is responsible for the disappearance of records documenting millions in pension fund monies, the New York Post reports.

Hevesi aide David Loglisci, deputy comptroller for pension fund investment, was the last person known to have the documents before he resigned in May, said DiNapoli, who is cooperating in an investigation of Hevesi by Albany Country District Attorney David Soares.

Officials are trying to piece the pension records back together with the help of the pension fund's business partners, the newspaper said.
