GWALICHOUR, Nepal, July 15 (UPI) -- Heavy rains send huge mudslides cascading down on villages in western Nepal this weekend, killing at least 28 people.
News Post India reported the Nepalese army was called in to rescue people in Gwalichour and Jaljala villages where dozens of homes were buried by the landslides since Thursday's rains. Deadly landslides also were reported in the Bajura district.
Seven people, including young children, were still missing Saturday. Rescuers had been unable to reach some areas due to the difficult terrain. Food and medicines were reported to be in short supply in the affected areas.
