Doctor held without charge in terror plot

SYDNEY, July 12 (UPI) -- Australian Federal Police are searching for evidence against Mohamed Haneef, a doctor accused of aiding terrorist attacks in London and Glasgow.

Haneef, who has been held without charge since his arrest July 2 at Brisbane International Airport, said he has told police of his family ties to accused suicide bomber Kafeel Ahmed -- but he said he has done nothing wrong, The Australian newspaper said Thursday.

Haneef, who was born in India, is a second cousin of Ahmed.

The newspaper said the AFP suspects Haneef of providing "support to the terrorist organization responsible for terrorist acts" in London and Glasgow June 29 and 30.

The AFP has been unable to identify any incriminating evidence, the newspaper said.
