Iraqi refugee allegedly raped in Stockholm

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, July 9 (UPI) -- Stockholm police were searching Monday for three men who allegedly raped an Iraqi woman who had been held captive for five days.

Police were called Sunday to the 29-year-old asylum seeker's temporary apartment by her husband, who found the door locked and heard whimpering inside, Sweden's The Local newspaper reported.

Officers found the woman tied up on a sofa and arrested an unidentified 51-year-old Iraqi woman in the apartment.

"She was locked in for five days. They covered her mouth and bound her hands and feet with tape, then they raped her," police spokesman Gunnar Samuelsson told The Local.

The woman was taken to a hospital for medical treatment and questioning about her alleged attackers, the report said.

The older Iraqi woman was reportedly not being cooperative, the newspaper said.
