Poll: Almost half in U.S. creationist
LONDON, July 6 (UPI) -- An Iraqi doctor arrested at Glasgow Airport Saturday was formally charged Friday with conspiracy to carry out a bombing campaign in Glasgow and London.
On the same day as Dr. Bilal Abdullah was charged, the FBI said two other medical doctors arrested in the case had inquired about procedures for foreigners to practice medicine in the United States, The New York Times reported. One of the doctors was identified as Mohammed Asha, a 26-year-old Jordanian of Palestinian descent who was arrested six days ago.
There was no information on the identity of the other doctor.
The charge against Abdullah was the first to be formally brought since Britain was subjected to two failed car bomb attacks in London June 29 and a June 30 attack by two men in a Jeep Cherokee at Glasgow Airport.
Abdullah, 27, was identified as one of the men in the Jeep. The other man, identified as Khalil Ahmed, was burned in the attack and has been hospitalized since the attack for treatment.
Abdullah was charged Friday with "conspiracy to cause explosions following incidents in London and Glasgow." The charge carries a maximum life sentence, The Times said.
