Prison slaying video hits Internet

BOSTON, July 6 (UPI) -- A video was posted on the Internet showing guards trying to pry open cell doors as a prisoner killed a convicted pedophile priest in a Massachusetts prison.

The Boston Herald said Friday the newspaper was tipped to the 10-minute video posting Thursday in a handwritten note that was purportedly written by Joseph Druce -- who was convicted of first-degree murder in the Aug. 23, 2003, slaying of 68-year-old John Geoghan at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center, a maximum-security prison.

The video hit the Internet June 12; Druce headlined the posting as "the first of many."

Druce apparently blames prison guards for his act of strangling and stomping the defrocked priest to death. The note directed the paper to youtube.com/Joseph Druce for "the truth about officers allowing J.G. to die through their neglect."

State corrections officials were investigating whether Druce was the person behind the grizzly video posting, while state officials were in the process of trying to have the video taken down.
