Iran threat cited by Israeli minister

JERUSALEM, July 2 (UPI) -- An Israeli defense official is warning his country lacks the necessary resources to combat the threat posed by Iran.

Outgoing Deputy Defense Minister Ephraim Sneh told a Knesset panel Monday it will take a lot of money to shore up the nation's defensive and offensive capabilities, The Jerusalem Post reported.

"I think that in light of how great the threat is and how badly a serious response is needed, the defense establishment isn't getting what it needs," Sneh told the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

Sneh called for isolating Iran both politically and economically.

He said while U.N.-imposed sanctions are beginning to be felt, they aren't enough.

"A nation facing this kind of threat should consider its priorities," Sneh said.
