Israel, Hamas trade fire in Gaza

GAZA, June 30 (UPI) -- Two Israeli air strikes Saturday killed six Palestinians in Gaza, including three senior Islamist Jihad militants.

The air strikes came three days after Israeli soldiers killed 12 Palestinians on the coast in Gaza, Ynetnews.com reported.

The militants killed Saturday were identified as Raed and Zeyad Ghannam and Mohamed al-Rai. The three long had been sought by Israel for allegedly launching rockets into Israel and orchestrating other attacks dating back to 2005, authorities said.

Meanwhile, the armed wing of Hamas claimed responsibility for Qassam rocket attacks late Friday and early Saturday near western Negev. The rockets damaged buildings but no injuries were reported, Ynetnews.com said.
