NASHUA, N.H., June 29 (UPI) -- Pictures on a New Hampshire teenager's MySpace page showing him at a drinking party could cost him his freedom.
A prosecutor withdrew a plea deal Thursday that had been offered to Michael Munoz Ramirez of Hudson, 17, The Nashua Telegraph reported. He was involved in a car crash last summer that killed a friend, Nathan Hergenhahn, 16.
Assistant Prosecutor Justin Shepherd and Munoz's lawyer had negotiated a plea bargain that included a suspended 12-month sentence, loss of his driver's license for five years and more than 1,000 hours of community service. Shepherd helped persuade the judge to accept the deal.
Police found no evidence that Munoz had been drinking at the time of the crash, which injured him, the driver of the other car and her daughter. But Shepherd said the pictures he saw on MySpace, showing Munoz at what appeared to be a party where teenagers were drinking illegally, convinced him to drop the deal. Hergenhahn's mother, Patricia Cyr, showed the prosecutor the pictures.
Munoz is now scheduled for trial.
