LONDON, June 27 (UPI) -- U.S. banking heir Matthew Mellon was acquitted in London Wednesday of spying on his wife during their divorce proceedings.

The Times of London said Mellon, 43, was accused of hiring a detective agency to snoop around his estranged wife, Tamara, and also planted a Trojan virus on her computer to monitor her e-mail.

He told the newspaper afterward he was happy the whole thing was over.

Tamara Mellon is the head of the upscale Jimmy Choo shoe company. The couple split up in 2004. They were married in 2000 after meeting at Narcotics Anonymous, the Times said.
