PITTSBURGH, June 26 (UPI) -- A former funeral director accused of hiding hundreds of fetuses and dead babies in a garage has pleaded guilty to one count of corpse abuse.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Robert Winston, 62, of McKeesport, Pa., also pleaded guilty to theft or withholding property.
Under a plea deal, prosecutors dropped 18 counts of abuse of a corpse against Winston, the newspaper reported.
Winston had a contract with Magee-Womens Hospital, where the newborns died after birth between 2000 and 2002, to deliver the infants' bodies to a crematorium. He agreed to pay $8,910 in restitution for not doing so, the Post-Gazette reported.
A prosecutor said Winston will likely receive probation at a Sept. 6 sentencing.
At least six families are suing Winston and the hospital, the newspaper reported.
