Nigeria's labor strike ends

ABUJA, Nigeria, June 24 (UPI) -- A four-day labor strike in Nigeria has ended following talks between the country's main labor unions and the federal government.

Following the marathon negotiation session, the two sides agreed to a nine-point agenda mostly revolving around the price of fuel in the West African country, Nigeria's Guardian newspaper reported Sunday.

A general strike over rising fuel costs gripped Nigeria last week after talks between union and government officials broke down.

Despite being the largest producer of oil on the continent, Nigeria must import fuel for domestic consumption due to refineries that have gone offline because of officials' corruption and continuing attacks on oil installations.
