4 charged with killing woman, abusing son

PORTAGE, Wis., June 21 (UPI) -- Investigators in Wisconsin say a young couple were the moving spirits behind a series of crimes including the imprisonment and killing of a woman.

A judge denied bail Wednesday for Candace Clark, 23, and Michael Sisk, 25, The Portage Daily Register reported. They are charged with the intentional murder of Tammie Garlin, and with abusing Garlin's 11-year-old son.

Garlin's 15-year-old daughter, Felicia, and her former lover, Michaela Clerc, have also been charged. Bail was set at $500,000 for Felicia Garlin and $350,000 for Clerc.

The woman's body was found last week buried behind a house the four defendants shared.

"It did seem that Candace Clark and Michael Sisk were at least the ringleaders as it concerns the financial side and transactions that were going on," Columbia County District Attorney Jane Kohlwey told reporters. "As it relates to the other matters in the household, it seems they were the dominant adults in the house."

Investigators said the boy was beaten with an electrical cord and belt and burned with boiling water.
