Peanut butter plaintiff gets kidney

CHICAGO, June 19 (UPI) -- A young girl whose family claims she fell ill after eating tainted peanut butter has received a kidney transplant in Chicago.

Krystina Brugh, 11, whose family is suing ConAgra Foods over salmonella-infected Peter Pan peanut butter that is blamed for the girl's illness, received one of her father's kidneys at the University of Illinois Medical Center, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday.

A hospital spokesman said the Lowell, Ind., girl, is recovering from the surgery.
