Prodigy, 21, about to become doctor

HAVANA, June 19 (UPI) -- Ailing Cuban leader Fidel Castro, apparently on the mend, declared in a recent newspaper editorial that the United States "will never have Cuba."
Appearing the pages of the official newspaper Granma and other state-run media, Castro's editorial declared: "You shouldn't doubt it either, Mr. Bush ... you will never have Cuba."
The 80-year-old long-time president of the communist island appears to be returning to active duty while continuing to recover from his mysterious gastro-intestinal illness.
Nearly one year ago, Castro turned over authority to his younger brother Raul Castro.
