Former Ramsey home under construction

BOULDER, Colo., June 8 (UPI) -- The current owners of the Boulder, Colo., home where JonBenet Ramsey's family once lived are remodeling the basement where the girl's body was found.

Tim and Carol Milner, who own the home but do not currently live in it, are transforming the former unfinished basement into a recreation room with a bar and wine cellar, the Boulder Daily Camera reported Friday.

The Milners, who purchased the home three years ago for $1.05 million, began construction in May after city building inspectors approved the plan. The architecture plans filed with the city say the finished basement will feature an entertainment wall with a flat screen television, a gas fireplace, archways with synthetic-stone lined walls, a pool table and a wet bar.

However, the room where John Ramsey discovered his 6-year-old daughter's body on Dec. 26, 1996, will remain a "utility room."

Brady Van Matre, owner of Van Matre Construction, which is performing the renovations, said people still come by the house to satisfy their morbid curiosity about once an hour. He said the gate, which is left open for workers, must be watched while the work is ongoing to prevent unauthorized entry.
