Bush meets with China's Hu

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE, June 8 (UPI) -- U.S. President George Bush Friday discussed a variety of issues with the leaders China, India and Brazil on the sidelines of the Group of Eight in Germany.

Bush, battling a stomach ailment, discussed economic issues, as well as Iran, Korea and the situation in Darfur, Sudan, with Chinese President Hu Jintao as the G8 summit in Heiligendamm, Germany, drew to a close.

White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said she did not know whether Hu agreed to attend a series of meetings Bush wants to convene on climate issues.

Bush also met with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Perino described the discussions as "positive." Earlier in the day, French President Nicolas Sarkozy met with Bush in his quarters.

Bush headed for Poland at the conclusion of the G8 summit where he will meet with Polish President Lech Kaczynski before heading to Italy and an audience with the pope.
