Bus bombing injures seven in Beirut

BEIRUT, Lebanon, June 5 (UPI) -- An official in Lebanon said the bombing of a bus in Beirut was linked to fighting between militants and government troops at two Palestinian refugee camps.

"The bombings and the clashes are connected," Information Minister Ghazi Aridi said on Alalam Satellite TV.

Tuesday night, a bus explosion in Christian east Beirut injured at least seven people, as troops and militants fought at camps in northern and southern Lebanon.

At least 107 people have died in the fighting at the two camps since the violence erupted May 20 between the army and Fatah al-Alam fighters.

Meanwhile, the U.S. government, which has already sent supplies to the Lebanese army, has announced it may send more.

"There are some additional items that are already under consideration that we are talking about with the Lebanese forces," U.S. national security adviser Stephen Hadley said in the Alalam report.
