ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 (UPI) -- A federal grand jury in Alexandria, Va., Monday indicted William Jefferson' title='U.S. Rep. William Jefferson' class='tpstyle'>U.S. Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., on corruption charges.

ABC News reports the 16-count, 94-page indictment includes racketeering, solicitation of bribes, wire fraud, money laundering, obstruction of justice, violating the foreign corrupt practices act and conspiracy charges.

Jefferson is accused of allegedly engaging in a bribery scheme involving a Nigerian official. He allegedly steered contracts to businesses in Nigeria in exchange for cash.

When the FBI raided Jefferson's home in May 2006, agents said they found $90,000 in cash stored in a coffee can in his freezer. Agents also searched his congressional offices.
