  |   June 3, 2007 at 12:52 PM
MOGADISHU, Somalia, June 3 (UPI) -- Six people died Sunday when a truck bomb exploded outside the home of Somalia's interim prime minister.

Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Ghedi was not injured, the BBC said. Witnesses said the truck exploded after ramming the gate of Ghedi's home in the capital of Mogadishu.

In northern Somalia, six Islamic militants were killed during weekend attacks by local and U.S. military forces, CNN reported. The six killed were from the United States, Sweden, Eritrea, Britain, Yemen and Pakistan, according to Mohamed Ali Yusef, minister of finance in Puntland State. No other details were released.

U.S. military officials believe militants linked to al-Qaida are in Somalia to attack western embassies, CNN reported.
