LOS ANGELES, May 30 (UPI) -- An American al-Qaida member accused of treason Tuesday threatened a catastrophic terrorist attack if U.S. military forces don't get out of Islamic countries.
Adam Yehyie Gadah, also known as Adam Pearlman and Azzam al-Amriki, issued his polemic in a seven-minute video posted on a Web site used by Islamic militants, the U.S.-based All Headlines News reported. Gadah, wearing a white urban and robe, also told President George Bush the United States must free all Muslim prisoners it holds and stop supporting Israel or suffer the consequences.
"Your failure to heed our demands ... means that you and your people will ... experience things which will make you forget all about the horrors of Sept. 11, Afghanistan and Iraq, and Virginia Tech," he said.
U.S. government contractor Ben Venzke at IntelCenter told AHN he doesn't think Gadahn expects the United States to head his warnings.
"It essentially allows al-Qaida to say that it has provided fair warning and is thus no longer responsible for the outcome," Venzke said.
Gadahn, 28, of California, was indicted in Los Angeles after the Sept. 11 attacks for offering material support to terrorism, counterterrorismblog.com reported. A superseding indictment charged him with treason.
