Toronto cops bust pot-growing operation

TORONTO, May 26 (UPI) -- Police seized about 2,465 marijuana plants along with some dried ready-for-sale weed with a street value of about $2.5 million from a Toronto apartment.

Authorities said 11 apartments were being used in the growing process, the Toronto Star reported Saturday. All were allegedly linked to one man identified as Quang Tan Huynh, 38, who was arrested at the scene and charged with 11 counts of production of marijuana and one count of possession of marijuana for trafficking purposes.

Police told the Star the apartments were loaded with mold, unknown chemicals, insecticides and herbicides. Ventilation and fire hazards were major concerns in the growing operations, as well, authorities said.
