LISBON, Portugal, May 26 (UPI) -- Authorities have issued a description of a man suspected of kidnapping a British toddler in Portugal, it was reported Saturday.
The suspect is described by police as a white man, between the age of 35 and 40, about 5-foot-10-inches tall, with short hair. The man wore a dark jacket with light-colored pants and carried what could have been a child or an object that might have appeared to be a child, Sky News reported.
The man was seen in Praia da Luz the night 4-year-old Madeleine McCann disappeared nearly a month ago from an apartment where her family was on vacation. Madeleine and her two siblings were alone in the apartment while her parents dined nearby and checked on them regularly, police said.
"For us it really wasn't very much different from having dinner in your garden," said Madeleine's father, Gerry McCann. Nonetheless, McCann said the guilt he and his wife feel will never leave them.
