Killer hid body under floor for four years

GLASGOW, Scotland, May 25 (UPI) -- A Scottish man admitted Friday he strangled a woman who came to his apartment collecting for charity and hid her body for four years under the floor.

Robert Kelly faces a life sentence for the slaying of Agnes Mechan. He is scheduled for sentencing next month.

A prosecutor told a judge in Glasgow that Kelly planned the killing, knowing that Mechan would be stopping by with money she had collected in the neighborhood. Kelly reportedly called Mechan, a 64-year-old grandmother, "the sweetest woman you'd ever meet."

Police searched Kelly's apartment in January after his partner, Angela McKeown, told a policewoman friend that he had confessed to killing Mechan.
