NEWARK, N.J., May 23 (UPI) -- Police in New Jersey cornered and killed a coyote near the subdivision where a 5-year-old boy was attacked.

The coyote, a 35-pound female, was killed outside the Earle Naval Weapons Station in Middletown Township before dawn Wednesday, The (Newark) Star-Ledger said.

It was unclear if it was the same one that attacked Brayden Gazette near his home Monday, the newspaper said. Officers spotted four coyotes during their overnight hunt, a township official said.
