NEW YORK, May 22 (UPI) -- FBI officials in New York Tuesday awaited confirmation that a Lackawanna man accused of attending an al-Qaida training camp has been recaptured in Yemen.

A Yemen newspaper reported that Jaber Elbaneh, one of the so-called Lackawanna Six, was back in custody after a year on the run, WIVB-TV in Buffalo said.

Elbaneh and about 20 other prisoners had escaped from a secure prison by digging a tunnel to a nearby mosque.

While he had never returned to the United States after allegedly attending the terrorist group's training camp, the FBI accuses him of providing material support to al-Qaida. There was a $5 million reward for his capture.
