BAGHDAD, May 21 (UPI) -- At least 35 people were killed and dozens of others injured in attacks in Baghdad Tuesday.
The Iraqi Interior Ministry said a car bomb explosion at an outdoor market in western Baghdad's Amil neighborhood Tuesday morning killed at least 25 people and wounded 60, CNN reported.
In northern Baghdad, four people were killed and 25 people were wounded by mortar shells, The New York Times reported. Most of the wounded were students at Ibn al-Haitham College.
Earlier Tuesday, gunmen at a fake police checkpoint killed a mother, father and four children, police in Baquba, north of Baghdad, told CNN.
Also Tuesday, the Multi-National Forces reported capturing 15 suspected terrorists in raids across Iraq that targeted members of the al-Qaida terror network.
"Each operation we conduct provides another link in the chain for dismantling al-Qaida in Iraq," Multi-National Force-Iraq spokesman Lt. Col. Christopher Garver said in the CNN report.
