Police Sgt. Nancy Higgins said Dixon was arrested in the theft of money from a tip jar in a suburban Subway restaurant and became a person of interest in the Braun case after his arrest.

Higgins said Dixon has been convicted eight times and arrested 70.

Braun broke her wrist during the April 27 struggle outside her home. She fell to the ground, and her attacker was chased off by two University of Chicago students.
