THE HAGUE, Netherlands, May 16 (UPI) -- A Dutch intelligence officer has admitted shocking Iraqi detainees during questioning, a newspaper reported.
The daily Volkskrant reported the alleged use of electroshock prods during questioning in October 2003 appears in a yet-to-be released human rights report from the European Parliament's van den Berg human rights committee investigation.
One of the inmates who was allegedly shocked and then turned over to British soldiers complained. Dutch intelligence initially denied shocking the detainees, but a Dutch marine commander eventually told The Hague about the allegation, and an intelligence officer confessed to Dutch military police, Expatica reported.
The commission's report will be published at the end of May.
