Fatah blames Hamas for two deaths in Gaza

GAZA, May 13 (UPI) -- Two Fatah members died Sunday in Gaza in an ambush that Fatah blamed on the rival political faction Hamas, YNetNews reported.

The two members of the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, Fatah's military wing, died in the northern Gaza Strip. They were identified as Baheh Abu Jarad, a commander of the Brigades, and his bodyguard, Tawfiq al-Todi.

Fatah blamed the military arm of Hamas for the killings, while Hamas denied any involvement, the BBC reported.

Tensions between Fatah and Hamas spiked recently when Palestinian Security members, who are linked to Fatah, arrived in Gaza against the wishes of other militant groups in the Gaza Strip, particularly Hamas, YNetNews said.

Sunday's killings came after an agreement by both sides to crack down on violence and lawlessness between the factions.
