Russia plans removal of Georgia bases

BRUSSELS, May 11 (UPI) -- Russia's Army General Staff chief said in Brussels that Russia plans to remove its military bases from Georgia by the end of the year.

Yuri Baluyevsky said at NATO headquarters that Russia remains committed to the Istanbul Commitments and "has fulfilled and overfulfilled them" thus far, Itar-Tass reported Friday.

Baluyevsky also said linking Russia's fulfillment of the commitments with the ratification of the Adapted Conventional Armed Forces in Europe Treaty by western states is unfounded.
