Cracker Barrel brings burgers back

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., May 9 (UPI) -- Restaurant chain Cracker Barrel announced it will begin serving hamburgers again after the menu item was discontinued following an incident in South Carolina.

Julie Davis, a spokeswoman for the chain, said Wednesday the restaurants will bring the burgers back "within the next day or so," The Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Sun News reported Wednesday.

The announcement comes three days after a woman in a Myrtle Beach Cracker Barrel restaurant cut her mouth on a burger that contained a sharp object, police said. Davis said the hamburgers and other items containing the same meat were pulled from every location across the country once the incident was revealed.

Cracker Barrel, the Myrtle Beach police and the company that supplied the meat -- Cargill's Meat Businesses of Wichita, Kan. -- said they were investigating the incident.
