Chilling tapes emerge in N.Y. terror trial

NEW YORK, May 8 (UPI) -- Chilling undercover audio recordings of an accused terrorist describing how to kill by ravaging a throat have come to light in a New York trial.

The recordings were made by an undercover FBI agent who was trusted by 44-year-old Tarik Shah, a bass player and martial arts expert, the New York Times reported.

Shah was one of four men arrested two years ago. He and the others have entered guilty pleas, but the tapes came to light at the trial of emergency room physician Rafiq Sabir.

On the tape, Shah is heard telling the undercover operative how "rip somebody's throat out," the Times said. "You give them internal bleeding -- it fills their lungs with blood."

The agent testified Shah told him he wanted to open a martial arts studio where he can "teach the brothers."

Shah, along with a paramedic from Washington and a Brooklyn bookseller face up to 15 years in prison when they are sentenced.
