Rangel: Tenet has no 'credibility'

WASHINGTON, May 6 (UPI) -- Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., said Sunday he doesn't believe former CIA Director George Tenet "has credibility with anyone in the United States."

The chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee told CBS' "Face the Nation" Tenet should be investigated for his role in the buildup to the Iraq War.

Rangel was responding to a question about Tenet's new book, "At the Center of the Storm," in which Tenet tries to explain his part in the process that led to war in 2003. Rangel criticized Tenet for his performance as CIA director, and said Tenet knew the evidence did not support the administration's argument that former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was allied with al-Qaida.

"And then to put out a book -- God knows what he got in terms of an advance -- to me this warrants an investigation," said Rangel. "It is unfair to do something like that to American people."
