Arizona enacts smoking ban

PHOENIX, April 29 (UPI) -- The state of Arizona is getting ready to ban smoking in public places this week.

The Arizona Republic reported on the ban, which is a worry to some bar and restaurant owners. Going into effect Tuesday, the ban will have health inspectors going mostly to bars to see that the law is being enforced.

Some establishments, the newspaper reported, are planning parties for Monday night where customers can smoke at the bar one last time. Other establishments are planning to build patios where customers will be able to smoke.

Bar owners in California, which already has a smoking ban, have offered to provide advice to establishment owners in Arizona.
