Quake jolts Japanese islands

TOKYO, April 21 (UPI) -- A strong earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale jolted several Japanese islands early Saturday.

There were no reports of damage or injuries following the earthquake that shook southern Kagoshima, the Mainichi Daily News reported.

The earthquake registered four on the seven-point Japanese intensity scale on the Okinoerabu and Yoron islands, and three on the northern Amami Oshima Island and the northern part of Okinawa's main island, the Daily News said.

The center of the earthquake was located about 28 miles below the seabed off Okinawa's main island.
