Soccer star Maradona back in hospital

BUENOS AIRES, April 13 (UPI) -- Former Argentine soccer star Diego Maradona has returned to the hospital after being discharged earlier this week following treatment for alcoholism.

The 46-year-old Maradona was hospitalized earlier this month for alcohol-induced hepatitis.

Since his retirement from the game, Maradona has endured a well-publicized battle with drug addiction and obesity. In 2005, he underwent stomach stapling surgery in Colombia and drug treatment in Cuba.

He appeared to be on the mend after the surgery and time spent in rehab, and also served as host of a popular TV show in Argentina.
