Illegal immigrants arrested in Calif.

LOS ANGELES, April 4 (UPI) -- U.S. officials say they've arrested 350 illegal immigrants in Southern California over the past two weeks.

The Los Angeles Times says 50 of the people arrested in San Diego and Imperial counties have criminal records. Others were arrested for immigration violations.

While most of the immigrants are Mexican, people from 14 other countries, including Cambodia, Cuba and Israel were also arrested, the newspaper said.

Immigration officials said the arrests were part of Operation Return to Sender, which has resulted in more than 18,000 arrests since May 2006.
