Report: NYU keeps 'dream college' crown

NEW YORK, March 28 (UPI) -- New York University has been named students' top "dream college" for the third straight year, a Princeton Review survey has found.

Although NYU beat out second place Harvard University among students, the annual Princeton Review "College Hopes & Worries Survey" found that responding parents gave top honors to Stanford University.

The annual survey polled 4,594 college applicants, along with 1,260 parents of people in the 2007 applicant class.

NYU's cross-town rival, Columbia University, came in fifth on the students' list behind third-place Stanford and Princeton University.

Parents rounded out their top 5 "dream colleges" behind Stanford with Princeton, Harvard, Brown University and Notre Dame.

The survey found that 65 percent of all respondents reported feeling high stress levels associated with the application process -- with 32 percent saying their main worry was financing a top-tier education.
