Son of jailed Italian mob boss arrested

NAPLES, Italy, March 27 (UPI) -- The son of imprisoned Italian mob boss Paolo Di Lauro was arrested Tuesday in Naples.

Vincenzo Di Lauro is believed to be acting in his father's place in the Camorra, or Neapolitan Mafia, the Italian news agency Ansa reported.

Investigators say that the Di Lauro clan, based in Secondigliano, a northeastern suburb of Naples, is already weakened by a faction fight. The rebel group, believed to be stronger now than those loyal to the Di Lauros, is being blamed for at least three killings in the past month.

Also Tuesday, 13 alleged Camorra members were arrested in Naples and Rome, including a 58-year-old woman accused of taking over the criminal activities of her imprisoned sons. A sweep last week netted a number of women, showing their increasing activity in organized crime in Italy.
