Fishermen rescued from ice in Siberia

VLADIVOSTOK, Russia, March 25 (UPI) -- Almost 300 ice fishermen were rescued Saturday from an ice floe near the Siberian port of Vladivostok on the Pacific coast of Russia.

The floe broke off from coastal ice in Amur Bay on Saturday morning and, driven by high winds, started heading for the open ocean, Itar-Tass reported. Many of those who were being carried off had ignored warnings of danger.
